Márquez will leave his current team at the end of this season of Grand Prix motorcycle racing (MotoGP). Since then, a series of serious injuries and a drop-off in performance of the Honda bike relative to rival manufacturers, particularly the currently dominant Ducati, have prevented him from tilting at a record-equalling seventh premier class world championship. At Gresini Ducati, a satellite team of the flagship Ducati Lenovo factory team, Márquez will be riding what is currently the most dominant bike on the grid.

FIFA allocated the 2030 World Cup to Spain, Portugal and Morocco last week but also said Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay would host three matches to mark the tournament's centenary. Victor Matheson, sports economist at College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts, said the 2030 World Cup proposal was "extremely well done" on FIFA's part. REUTERS/Arnd Wiegmann/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 11 (Reuters) - FIFA's decision to hold the 2030 World Cup in six countries with fans flying to over 100 games will increase the tournament's carbon footprint and is at odds with the soccer governing body's climate commitments, experts have warned. FIFA allocated the 2030 World Cup to Spain, Portugal and Morocco last week but also said Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay would host three matches to mark the tournament's centenary. It is a stark contrast to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which had only 32 teams while all 64 matches were played in eight stadiums in and around Doha. "Every decision that grows the World Cup is going to increase the carbon footprint of the event. "For the last World Cup in Qatar, travel within the country was quite minimal because the country is so small," Ross said.

The 25-year-old Spaniard led from the first corner to the chequered flag and was joined by KTM's Brad Binder and Bagnaia of Ducati on the sprint podium. The American won the first of her five world all-around titles in 2013 at the age of 16 in Antwerp and has since become a household name after winning a record 25 worlds medals -- which includes a jaw-dropping 19 golds. At 26, she will become not only the oldest American woman to compete at the worlds in over half a century but also the first woman to represent the U.S. at six artistic world championships when it kicks off on Saturday. The U.S., Britain and Canada's women secured team quota spots last year while China, Japan and Britain secured men's quotas. While the U.S. men are yet to secure qualification, the women are overwhelming favourites for top spot but Biles will have competition for the individual all-round gold. The 2022 all-around champion Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, Olympic silver medallist in Tokyo, is a serious contender as is Biles's 21-year-old compatriot Shilese Jones, who took the silver at the worlds last year.

Sept 23 (Reuters) - Gresini Racing have the opportunity to sign Marc Marquez next season and are waiting for a decision from the six-times MotoGP champion, Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti said on Saturday. Marquez has struggled with Honda this season and the Spaniard has finished only three races, his best finish being seventh place at Misano earlier this month. The 30-year-old said earlier this month that he will come to a decision during the Indian and Japanese Grands Prix. "As far as Gresini goes, I think it obviously looks like they have this opportunity and they are waiting for Marquez’s decision," Ciabatti said in an interview with MotoGP at the Indian Grand Prix.
